how to get a free shell

This is a short howto what to do to get a free shell.
See this as general, some tips from who have a little experience in this scene.

1. Read always the website and if there is a forum, also check the forum carefully.
2. If the free shell hoster have an irc-channel, join that channel.
3. Most important, be patient. It costs time to get a free shell. How better the shell, how longer it can before you get an account.
4. If shellrequest is aviable give so much info if you can. Tell something about your self. Tell also why the shellprovider must give you a shell. Tell what you want to do with your shell. If you must give a reason, running bnc or bot (eggdrop) is often not a valid reason.
5. Notify that if you want use irc, its not possible by the most free shell to connect populair networks like ircnet, quakenet, dalnet, undernet, efnet and so on.
6. Also important if you use a shell for irc, NEVER be get a K-line or G-line.
7. You must have enough experience with linux to handle your shell. Ok paid shell can give more service, but free shells can be even good as paid, but they have always less service than a paid one. Also for that, be patient. Bugs you can always tell to the free shell provider and they will try fix that asap. This is also for some programs what you want to use, and thats not intalled. Every shell provider will install such programs if needed.
8. Don't act stupid or lame. Be helpfull. This last thing because some free shell providers are also a community.
9. Follow always the things what the provider tells you.

Normely it cost 1 week to get a free shell if there is an signup/request form. For the very good ones, it can be much longer.

If you want test what free shells are, or want test if its possible to connect a shell, use m-net. That free shell you have after request shell direct a shell. Ok, that shell is useless (in mine opinion, except if you want learn some linux), but is fine for testing purpose.
